The SkyScout is a revolutionary handheld device that uses advanced GPS technology and the immediacy of the "point and click" to instantly identify thousands of stars, planets, constellations and more, providing a guided walk in the night sky with recreational and educational value.
Most people are familiar with the classic indoor planetariums that project images of celestial bodies and other phenomena on the ceiling and provide information about the objects. The SkyScout does not project an image, but instead uses the actual sky to educate users to recognize and provide information about celestial objects and other phenomena of the sky, using audio and scrolling text.
The SkyScout has a complex installation procedure and its menus are simple enough for all ages. Turn it on and is ready for use! A built-in help menu provides quick instructions for using the SkyScout.
Simply choose "Identify" (identify), point the SkyScout at any star or object in the sky, and click the "Target". The SkyScout will instantly display the name of the object you are observing and give information about that.
To locate a star or planet, select "Locate" and then select the name of the menu. Follow the red arrows that appear in the viewfinder. All arrows will light up simultaneously when you have found your object.
Once you have located an object the real fun begins. The SkyScout includes entertaining and educational audio and text information in the form, including facts, anecdotes, history and mythology about our most popular celestial objects. The SkyScout personal planetarium is a fun learning tool for people of all ages, who puts the knowledge of an expert astronomer in the palm of your hand.
The SkyScout has over 6000 objects in its memory, including stars, planets, constellations, galaxies, nebulae, and more, provides full audio descriptions providing history, mythology and other entertaining information for the 200 most popular objects . There are also several hundred text descriptions of lesser-known objects. There are the basic scientific data of all 6000 objects, including the brightness, the distance from Earth, and other useful information.

The SkyScout includes constellation lessons. The database (repository) and the software in your SkyScout is completely updatable. If there is a new comet or planet discovered, you can download that information into your SkyScout using the USB port, and this way you always have the latest information. You can also update the software in your SkyScout to include new functions or further information on existing objects, when this information becomes available.
Connector for SD Memory Card is used for a presentation lasting 20-30 minutes option used by the Sky Tour, in order to provide hours of entertainment on a variety of topics.
